What you can do

Enhancing and protecting the environment has a huge impact on our quality of life.
Our councils do so against a backdrop of increasing financial constraint.
Constant service innovation has positioned Wales as the highest recycling nation in the UK and fourth in the world. Improving performance further is challenging. We all need to share the way forward.
Here are some simple things that you can do:

  • Teach children to respect nature and the environment.
  • Encourage your family and friends to follow suit
  • Write your MP/MS about conservation issues in your community.
  • Donate or Volunteer your time to conservation projects.
Shop with mother nature in mind
  • Bring your own bags
  • Buy eco-friendly cleaning products or make your own
  • If you must use non-stick pans, do it correctly safely
  • Avoid buying all  plastic
  • Do you really need another pair of shoes?
  • Buy natural fibers instead of synthetic

Reuse and recycle
  • Re-use bread bags and produce bags.
  • Store food in re-usable containers.

  • Use scrap paper for informal notes to yourself and others.
  • Print or copy on both sides of the paper.

Make your garden eco-friendly
  • Grow your own

  • Pull weeds instead of using herbicides.
  • If you must, use only organic fertilizers.
  • Take extra plastic and rubber pots back to the nursery.
  • Plant short, dense shrubs close to your home’s foundation for insulation
  • Use mulch to conserve water in your garden.
  • Compost
Make your journey as green as possible
