Your Council should be your first point of contact
for all your needs
Here is some of what we do:
- Hold monthly council meetings that are available for all residents to attend in person or via Zoom
- Set the Precept (our annual budget, collected from your Council tax) and decide how this is to be spent
- Meet regularly with Brecon Beacons National Park, Powys County Council and the Canal and Rivers Trust on matters affecting our community and beyond
- Consult with BBNPA on planning applications that are in our council area
- Provide this website to keep residents up-to-date with pertinent, local information
- Provide 'Talybont Matters', our quarterly local newsletter
- Maintain the playground and playing fields at Henderson Hall (which is owned by the council)
- Monitor the Henry Vaughan Garden and Walking Trail
- Manage the Community Orchard and Walking Trail
- Provide and maintain noticeboards throughout the community to keep you informed
- Maintain the bus shelters
- Provide and maintain public benches
- Organise regular litter picks
- Monitor the towpath and dog waste bins
- Work with the Police to safeguard the community
- Work in conjunction with the highways authorities on highway improvement and traffic calming measures
- Liaise with our County Councillor
