Information from BBNPA concerning tree felling on the Wenallt

A brief update on the closure of the tram road -  it was closed urgently a few days ago because of the risk of logs coming down onto the tram road. The National  Park  in fairness had to act quickly to close the route hence the Community Council did not have any advance warning of this closure. You will note they say the closure only applies during the hours the contractors are working.  Information recently obtained from the Naational Park Rights of Way Officer is given below:

"  As it stands the contractor has advised  that the initial closure will last for 4 to 6 weeks so that there  will need to be issued a second emergency notice on the expiration of the first. We are advised that the closure will only be operative between 6am and 4pm on weekdays and the contractor will have notices posted on-site to say this.

Our wardens will deal with any overgrowth as a result of the closure.

The closure only applies to the public right of way, it does not affect any private rights of way leading to land adjacent to the tramroad.

The contractors have also applied for an additional closure to follow the expiration of the initial emergency closures. This will apply to the southern section of what is now closed . This will again only be operative between 6am and 4pm but the closure is likely to last for approximately 12 weeks. "

It is possible that the above timetable may alter , we will post any information received as quickly as possible .

Community Forum 2024

A big thanks to the participants  , speakers , facilitators and helpers who all helped to make  the Community Forum on the 14th November a success . Our two speakers gave us honest and informative insights and there were  many excellent comments and ideas for future action . We are at present writing up a provisional record of the small group discussions which will go on the Community Council website and Facebook site , initially for comment and hopefully once agreed as a permanent record .
We hope as a result of this meeting to identify and agree some actions which the council can promote in conjunction with others .

Our Community Council is a corporate body of nine local members. As the branch of government that is closest to the people we strive to reinforce the well-being of our current residents and future generations through open and honest communication.  We are committed to ensuring a safe, sustainable and peaceful community for the enjoyment of locals and visitors alike. We meet regularly and welcome hearing from you.
Your Next Community Council Meeting is
July 19th, 2024 at 7pm at Henderson Hall.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

In the heart of  the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park,  our constituency includes the farms, hamlets and villages of Aber, Buckland, Cross Oak, Llandetty, Llansantffraed, Pencelli, Talybont-on-Usk and Scethrog.
Our council stretches through breathtaking countryside, from the peaks of Allt yr Esgair in the the north, to Gwaun y Pynt in the south, Tor y Foel in the East and the Bryn and Waun Ridd in the west. The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, River Usk and Caerfanell meander through the valleys and the Talybont, Pentwyn nd Ponsticill Reservoirs provide a home for local wildlife. In our valleys and hills, the days are beautiful and the nights are magical.
