Local churches - Beacons Benefice
There are three Church in Wales parishes in the Talybont-on-Usk area - Llanddetty, Llanfeugan and Llansantffraed covering a broadly similar area to the Community Council. These three parishes operate jointly with three parishes in and around Llanfrynach as the ‘Beacons Benefice’. The churches and their ministry are available to anyone who lives in or visits the area - not just to people who attend church regularly on Sundays.
The three churches are St Tetta, Llanddetty (on the B4558 from Talybont to Llangynidr),
St Meugan, Llanfeugan (in the foothills southwest of Pencelli) and
St Bride, Llansantffraed (at the A40 turning to Talybont).
The churches in the Llanfrynach area are located at Cantref, Llanfrynach and Llanhamlach.
Family services are usually held in the Henderson Hall in Talybont.
There is a service in one of the three churches in the Talybont area each Sunday and an informal family service once a month. Click here for the Services webpage on the Beacons Benefice website where you'll find the current list of times and locations of services. Whether you come regularly or only occasionally, the churches are part of the community and its heritiage, and everyone is always welcome.
The Priest-in-charge, Reverend Kelvin Richards, leads a ministry team covering 11 churches in the Beacons Benefice and the neighbouring parish of Llyn Safaddan. Any enquiries about matters related to the Beacons Benefice or a particular church should be addressed either to the Priest-in-charge - Reverend Kelvin Richards, The Rectory, Talybont-on-Usk, LD3 7UX, t: 01874 676146; e: firstname.lastname@example.org - or the relevant church contact below.
